I would like to put my roots down where Euijoo is also, Nicholas would probably reply, if he was being really honest with himself, if he dared to speak those words out loud and have them become true in that way. I bloom most splendidly whenever he is looking at me, after all.

Euijoo throws his head back and Nicholas can only stare at the protruding jugular vein along Euijoo’s neck; he contorts his body and places his lips on it, sucking lightly, biting down slowly, eager to hear another choked moan escape Euijoo’s lips. Euijoo puts a hand on Nicholas’ nape—the sudden touch making it all feel slightly more intimate than usual. There’s a sinking feeling stirring inside Nicholas’ stomach from the touch alone.
He knows it’s not the time to think about how good Euijoo looks under him nor is it the time to think about the schematics of whatever they have going on.

Dejun isn't cool and he never has been.
He wasn't cool when he exclusively listened to Justin Bieber in 7th grade and swooped his hair to the right just like he did. He wasn't cool in 9th grade when a girl asked him out for dinner and all he could do was stare at her and repeat the word “sorry” over and over again. He wasn't cool in 12th grade when he discovered the Twilight books, an embarrassing number of years later than the girls in their cohort, who’d gotten that out of their system when they were 14, and secretly kept them stashed in his bag at all times, even at school.
He isn't even cool now.
Guanheng looks across at him. His hair is a damp mess from swimming in the sea earlier and he's got a stubborn crumb still hanging off his lip and a terrible sunburn slathered across the bridge of his nose and the apples of his cheeks and he's keeping Guanheng from going back to his shift which should've started 10 minutes ago and the thing is Guanheng has been in love with Dejun since they were thirteen years old.
It's the end of the summer and Guanheng is still in love with Dejun.

The cackle was unnecessary and Husk said as much, glowering. When that failed to shut him up, he waited until there was a lull and hissed, “Ya done?”
There was a pause, a ‘no,’ and then another chorus of maniacal laughter that sent Pentious, who had come into the parlor for something, slithering away with nothing more than an eep and an apology.
