Prompto has always known that Noctis was the prince, but he’s only ever really cared that Noctis was his friend. And he thought it was pretty clear that he didn’t befriend Noctis for the money and gifts.
In hindsight, he probably should have just said that much to Noctis.

“Who are you dating?” He asked blandly, sending a look Cor’s way. His marshall simply hunched his shoulders and scraped a highlighter across a line of text probably harder than was necessary – leave me out of your drama, old man. “A girl? From your class?”
Noctis’ scowl only deepened, and Regis had to supress a smile.
“I said we’re not dating,” he said. “And no, it’s not a girl – but it is a girl’s fault.”
Regis tilted his head. “You’re dating a boy?”
“No, I – I’m not dating anyone,” he said, and threw his arms up in disbelief.
In which Noctis cannot believe this is his life, Regis and Cor are total Dads(TM), and Prompto just wants this all to be over, like, yesterday.

Prompto blinks again. "Why are there so many people in here?" he asks.
"This is actually an unprecedented event in Lucis," someone else pipes up. "We haven't had a Song Mage in Lucis since there's-"
"Don't overwhelm him," the doctor says. "He's been through a lot this past week." He turns to Prompto again. "Do you understand me?" he asks.
"Yes?" Prompto responds, and it takes him a moment to realize that the question hadn't been asked in Lucian. And that he hadn't responded in Lucian, either. "Wait. What?"

"On the other hand, Prompto was tired and lonely, and would most likely never see Noctis again once they stepped out of the plane. So, he definitely spared a quick glance at Noctis’ lips - dammit, nothing about this guy was fair - which was probably not at all subtle. Whatever. When he ended up alone in whatever hotel room the airline would provide for him, it would be nice to think back to this moment and imagine that maybe there had been more between them."
A volcanic eruption forces all airports in Lucis to close one after the other. Prompto hasn't slept in 36 hours; he's had a really shitty year, and when his last chance plane has to turn back to Tenebrae, he wonders if he'll eventually be able to catch a break. Then he meets the gorgeous stranger sitting next to him.

Hour 25 was incredibly dangerous. Not only did the daemons reach their most vicious, but all sorts of technology—unless specifically developed by certain scientists in Gralea—stopped working. Humans who were unable to function turned into crystals, completely defenseless against the daemons.
In an Eos without royalty, but still ravaged by daemons, the only ones who can properly protect the world are a group of twenty-somethings with absolutely no clue what's going on.
