Summary
That’s it, then. He knew, deep down, that this day would come; it does for many Mandalorians, eventually. For people like him, people who put themselves into that much danger, it’s almost inevitable, whether unmasked by an enemy or by someone just trying to help. That knowledge doesn’t make it any easier to bear. He stares at the helmet and it seems to stare back at him, a visible representation of his ruination.
(Din almost dies, but when he wakes up he finds that the price of his life was not one he was willing to pay.)

Summary
”Why am I naked?” she asks, craning her neck to look at herself with a perplexed scowl.
“You're not naked,” Din stresses matter-of-factly. She has her bra on and he's been diligently keeping his attention trained on his medical task, despite the temptation he feels lurking in the back of his mind, begging him to only take one look.
Cara doesn't try to cover herself, and Din will never know if she's actually okay with him stripping her or if she's just too confused to protest.
“Where is my upper clothing?” she slurs, still frowning at her bare torso. A warm flutter rises in Din's stomach at how her tongue catches a little on the Rs, but he decides to ignore it.
“Your upper clothing couldn't be spared,” he informs her, unable to hold back an amused smile. “I had to cut through it to tend to your wound.”
“Oh. That was so nice of you.” Cara pats his arm in what Din supposes is meant to be a grateful gesture.
ORDin and the child take care of Cara when she gets injured and find out painkillers have a funny effect on her.

“You still won't look at me.”
He curses to himself. He didn't mean to sound so hurt.
“What?” Cara has the nerve to ask, like she genuinely has no idea what he's talking about.
“It's been three days,” he murmurs, his attention focused on her ankle as his fingers move and rub and soothe under the child's curious supervision. “I've come to terms with this,” he sighs. “Why haven't you?”
He doesn't want to force her, but he believes he deserves to know if he has no way to make up for this. He knew Cara wouldn't accept this easily, he knew that even before fate put him in front of a life or death decision, and it was a surprisingly simple choice. Trouble is he fears she probably expected him to ask for her permission before he gave up his helmet to save her life.OR

Boba looks at her, expression hard. His fist clenches, and Fennec readies herself for a fight. They haven't been like this in months, having left the occasional bitter screaming matches on his ship, but she figures all good things come to an end sooner or later.
He exhales, and places his face in his hands. "I don't know, either."
She doesn't quite know how to react, so she just crosses her arms again and waits for him to continue.
"I don't know who you are."

There’s a bit of a scuffle, one she’ll have to apologize to her downstairs neighbors for. But it ends with Din flat on his back on her bed, the pillows all knocked to the floor. She’s got her thighs pressed up under his, his legs sprawled out on either side of her waist, and one arm pressing down over his Beskar breastplate to keep him there.
“Tell me you don’t want this and I stop,” Cara pants, hunched over him.

Din nearly choked.
"She's what?"
He spun toward Cara, who had moved a couple of feet up the stall, and noticed a red stain the size of a fist soaking the side her shirt.
Cara didn't even have the time to glance down at herself before Din pushed her back to sit on a crate nearby. He moved her arm up and started feeling around the spot with tentative, delicate touches, frowning when Cara hissed in pain.

“I think I’m reliving the day,” Din tells them two iterations later.
They’ve already picked up Mayfeld and are in the process of going over the plan to get the coordinates from the terminal on Morak. Din just drops it on them, because he doesn’t really know how to soften the blow. Fine, they’re going to think he’s crazy. Whatever. As long as they listen to him. The problem is, sometimes they don’t want to—one of them gets hung up on a particular strategy that never goes right—so he’s trying something different this time.
(When the mission to Morak turns disastrous, Din gets a chance to try again. And again, and again, and again.)

The baby cuddled up to Din's side, ears drooping in the fakest and most adorable display of guilt Din had ever seen. Din curled an arm around him, letting him rest his head in the crook between his hip and his legs. The kid sighed contentedly.
Cara fetched the tray with the soup, so hot that tendrils of steam still rose from the bowl. There were a couple of pieces of bread soaking in it: Cara broke them down with a spoon and stirred. A small, nostalgic smile started surfacing on her lips.
"My mother used to say that a bowl of soup is the real food for the soul," she said wistfully. A small smile tugged at her lips. "Because it's warm and comforting, and it always makes you feel better."
Din knew something that had that effect on him. It wasn't soup, though.
Cara cocked her head as if she was observing him.
“I don't suppose you can eat this on you own, huh?”Series
