Murphy doesn’t need a lot. He’s doing fine. He has a job, a home, and can even afford to drink some shitty coffee a few times a week. But then a certain young woman barges her way into his life, sets him up with a certain handsome man, and everything goes to shit.
This ended up having more angst in it than I originally intended, but there's obnoxious fluff in it, too. :)

He could continue to write his undergraduate thesis and live his life in peace, or, he could take up the mantle as the world's greatest hero and accompany an ancient cursed sun god named Murphy on a quest to slay the ten most deadly monsters in the known universe, so that he can save everyone who has ever lived from descending into chaos.

He hoped it would turn around up until the point he stumbled aboard the pirate brigantine Helios, looked the infamous Captain Bellamy in the eye, and blurted something about being a foreign prince, worth quite a lot of ransom money, please don’t kill him, please.
Once chained up in the brig and heading out to sea, he wondered briefly whether or not it was his fault that everything always went tits up.

Summary
Peter Hale knows what it’s like to wear a mask all of the time. Even before the fire, he had to be charming and quick on his feet and refuse to let anyone close. It didn’t mean that he didn’t feel, and that he doesn’t feel now, contrary to popular belief. What it does mean is that he sees it in Stiles Stilinski - he sees how the young man uses his voice and his energy as a mask for what lies below, and what he sees there unsettles him in a way that feels startlingly like empathy.
Stiles Stilinski feels like he’s drowning in deep waters, or perhaps burning up from the inside out, or starving to death in a dark, lonely forest. All he knows is that it feels like dying, but he’s so sure that if he just keeps trying it’ll be okay. If he just keeps giving as much of himself away as he possibly can and then some, someone will reciprocate, and provide him the stability he craves so badly. The last person he expects that to be is Peter Hale.
A story of faces both false and true - and of finding people who can tell the difference - told in three acts.
