    This is a request from my Broppy Smut Request Fic, but I wanted to make it a little longer than I thought would fit as just a chapter in that fic. I was going to make it a chaptered fic, but struggled to find places for chapter breaks, so it just became a long one-shot.

    mermaid and lonely lighthouse keeper au. Branch is the lighthouse keeper, is a good job, well-paid and quiet. just like he likes it. one day, he sees something, or someone in the rocks nearby.
    notes: Branch is very wary about Poppy. He's heard all about merfolk and how they can lure you in and drown you to death. Turns out some sea tales are not exactly correct, and he lets Poppy drag him down into the water in the most pleasurable way possible. If you've ever seen Pirates of the Caribbean 4, I'd like to have the same vibes as the mermaid and missionary guy from the movie. like, make it something that would read as an old sea dog's tale of true love in unknown places. like an old tale you tell before bed, almost fairy-like, but with sea water in the middle.
