A vampire could afford to get out of his own curse shackles for a little longer than usual: he could walk the streets when there were still a lot of people. He could look at them, feel their beating hearts and the blood flowing smoothly through their veins. But there was no way he would ever mistake their blood for the one that now seemed to freeze under his fangs. This blood was thicker, sweeter and more appetizing than any other. The faith flowing in it, the submission and stubbornness flowing in it at the same time intoxicated better than any alcohol, and the smell of pale, but not so white skin was better than any fragrance.

Suguru still tensed up at the words. “Well now you’re the one not making that easy.” He mumbled under his breath, making a visible effort to keep his eyes glued to Satoru’s face, trying to prove a point.
“Why?” Satoru asked forcefully. “Why is it not easy?”
Suguru searched Satoru’s face with that contained distress that was oh so him. “Because you’re just- ” He blurted out before catching himself. “You’re just not easy.”

“Did you want me to come see you?” Keigo asks after that silence had stretched out too long for it to not have been burdened by any kind of troubling feelings.
Touya slips his boot off of Keigo but it stays pressed against the edge of the chair between his legs. He shrugs as though he doesn’t care. His words contradict his attitude, like always.
“An appearance would’ve been nice. We had something.”
Keigo’s brows furrow. Touya shouldn’t be able to say that and look him in the eye, but he does anyway.
“It was nothing real,” he bites out with a clear intent to hurt him.
Touya is so disconcertingly severe when he responds, “Yeah, but it was horrible and it was ours.”
Keigo looks away because he swears his heart skips a beat at that. Not in a good way, but in the way it would if one were to receive news of a close friend passing.

Keigo and Touya run into each other after the war. It has been over two years. They still don’t know how to talk. So they argue. They fuck. They daydream. Touya cries. Keigo is all out of tears. They’ll never understand each other and it hurts.
