“Mike. Breathe, you're rambling” Will squeezed his hand just a bit tighter and Mike matched his breathing
“Will, I love you. I think I always have,” His eyes fell to the floor, tears burning his eyes as he fights himself to continue, “I-I don't want this to change anything but I just- it’s always been so different with me and you and I think it’s always been you? I jus-”
“Mike, Mike look at me.” Mike kept his head down.
“Michael.” At the sound of his full name, Mike looked up — only to see Will with the softest look of adoration on his face. He felt slightly cold hands cup both cheeks. Teary eyed, Will chuckled before clearing his throat to speak, leaning in closer, “Can I kiss you?”

Summary
The anniversary effect is very real; they’ve all felt it. Especially Will, as another shiver racks through him, stronger than the last. This time, Will takes a step closer to Mike and presses their shoulders together. Whether it’s for body heat or comfort, Mike doesn’t know, but he isn’t going to complain.
If he can’t protect Will from the horrible memories and sleepless nights, he can at least protect him from the autumn breeze. He quickly tugs off his leather jacket and holds it out for Will to take, who looks down at it in surprise.
“What?” he asks, glancing between it and Mike, like he doesn’t know what to do with it.
“You’re cold,” Mike states, no room for question. He knows that Will would lie about it if he could.

He could feel his heart racing, beating so hard and fast it felt like it was going to explode out of his chest. His muscles locked up and his whole body hurt. He felt heavy, like his skin was filled with rocks.
“-ill. Will,” he could faintly hear, like a desperate voice beckoning him back into the light. “Will.”
It sounded muffled, as if it was coming from underwater.
“Shh, Will, you’re okay, you’re safe,” he heard more clearly now. It was his favorite voice, his favorite sound in the world. His blurry vision slowly started to clear, and Mike’s face appeared in front of him, panicked eyes searching his face for a sign of recognition in Will’s eyes. “You’re not there anymore, Will. You’re here, in our room. I’m here, sweetheart. Come back to me, please.”

He cupped Mike’s face with his palms and pulled away from the kiss. “I want to try something,” he said before slipping from his boyfriend’s lap. Mike looked dazed at first, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Then his expression changed to that of surprise as Will kneeled between his knees, palms caressing up his thighs and reaching for the buttons on his jeans.
“Whoa, whoa,” he said, hands quickly reaching to stop Will’s goal of getting him naked. “What’s going on, baby?” he asked, even though he was pretty sure where Will was going with this.
“I want to blow you,” he got in response, and Will quickly continued undoing his pants.
“Wait, wait, Will, stop,” Mike said, once again bringing his hands to a stop. “Let’s talk about this, please.”
