Minhee misses burning her finger on the stovetop by a hair’s breadth. Is she dreaming, again? Weird. Her dreams are never so—well, clothed, for one. And real.
The residual heat from the pan kisses the surface of Minhee’s palm. It would burn her if she got too close, and the threat of the heat, imminent and radiating, is enough to confirm what Minhee finds really, really hard to believe: this is definitely not a dream.
Minhee turns around. “What,” she asks, mind blank. She must have misheard that, surely—
“Don’t look so—is it that bad of an ask? My fake girlfriend, I meant. Will you be my fake girlfriend?”
