Summary
“What do you want?” Radzig asked, voice raspy, as he looked up from between Istvan's legs.
“I could grow used to seeing you on your knees before me,” Istvan said, mouth curling in a smile. “Perhaps I should keep you there.”
Radzig chuckled. “These knees are too old for that, I’m afraid.” He stood up and leaned in towards Istvan, pulling him close for a kiss. Against his mouth, he murmured, “Tell me what else I can give you.”
A shudder ran through Istvan’s body, strong enough that Radzig could feel it. Istvan took a deep breath. “You can’t imagine the ways I would answer that.”
Radzig hosts Istvan for the evening at Skalitz and misses something he won’t recognize until it’s far too late.

Radzig could tell what Stephanie wanted, even though it was all careful nuance and insinuation. Divish was good to her, but could no longer… rise to the occasion, and Stephanie was left alone and barren. Istvan looked at him sidelong; he, as uncannily observant as he always was, also understood.
Istvan's eyes flicked from his back to hers, before his lips curled into a sly smile and he replied, “Who would we be to deny the lady?”

Reluctantly, Godwin turned back. Erik was looking at him, the moonlight giving his face an uncanny glow. His wretched expression caught Godwin by surprise: his jaw was clenched, mouth set in a tight line, and his cheeks were shining as if with tears. He glared, gestured at the space on the log next to him, then turned back to face the water.

And so it is that, when Valjean steps into the room with a heavy basin of steaming water held in his hands—he had asked his housekeeper to heat it, and yet knowing the nature of Javert’s complaints, had insisted on bearing it up himself—Javert raises his head from the sweat-stained pillows which have become his prison these past weeks, curls his lip in distaste, and says, “You presume too much.”

A smudged figure waits in the corner of Erik's eye. Istvan is dressed in black, covered from head to toe with armored limbs and a heavy doublet, but he doesn't reek the way Erik does in the heat. If anything, he smells like nights in camp. Like woodsmoke and a chilly breeze. The comfortable scent of bodies in the same place for too long.
Istvan buys Erik a gift.

Had this heart that now pounds in his chest like a bell of the monastery not hungered after things forbidden? Had it not rejoiced in dealing pain just as much as it had in helping others?
Henry casts aside the Benedictine habit after ten strange and sacred days among monks and hymns. Then, to infiltrate Vranik in the service of his liege lord, he puts on a mask—one of cruelty, corruption, and violence— and it proves to slip on a bit too easily.
He wears it well—and the comfort of it terrifies him.
An expansion of Henry’s time in Vranik: facing his own dark desires while vying for Erik’s favour—and then facing his worst fears the moment he loses that favour, suddenly and irrevocably.
Chapters 1-3 explore Henry - and Henry/Erik.
Chapters 4-5 are near pure Isterik.
