“How long.” It was supposed to be a question but his tone of voice wasn’t quite right. The words were breathy, and they sounded more like a heavy sigh than a question.
She reached out a hand and rubbed at the top of Kakyoin’s head. It was weird but comforting.
“You’ve been in a coma for about twelve years, dear.”
Kakyoin’s mind felt blank. He wasn’t sure what he was thinking.
“Oh.”

Alternatively, after about twelve years, Kakyoin finally awakes from a coma. Unfortunately for him, his old friends believe him to be dead, and they're rather difficult to find.

Dio. The World. Jotaro.
“I have to go back, I have to help Jotaro. He doesn’t know how Dio’s stand works!” He panics.
“Still as active as ever I see. Even in heaven you can’t help but be moving around huh?” A familiar voice asks, from behind him.
Chills run down his spine, and tears immediately prick at his eyes. How long had it been since he had heard that voice? Was his mind playing tricks on him? After the tragedy he had just faced, he didn’t think he could take it if the person behind him wasn’t who he was thinking of.
“Mio Dio, I see you’re just as rude too,” the same warm voice teases, and Joseph quickly spins around to be met with his favorite blue eyes, and pink triangles.
“Cae-” Joseph’s voice cracks. Caesar smiles.
“Hi, my Jojo."
