Summary
Somehow, Buck has Eddie’s lip print on his cheek. Eddie has marked Buck as taken and his, and oh. This is what Buck wants. He can’t walk around with a hickey on his neck, no matter how much he wants to (and god does he want to). But this could scratch the itch, allow Buck to feel claimed, to feel like Eddie’s being a little possessive, while maintaining secrecy. He can wipe off the lip balm where Eddie’s lips branded him and pretend like they’re best friends and nothing more.
Honestly? It’s so hot.
or, Buck wants to be marked by Eddie so badly; Eddie obliges with lip balm, lipstick, and hickeys. They fuck about it.

“Would you fire me?” Eddie follows up, because now he’s burning with desire to know. “If you were captain and I pulled something like that?”
“I would never fire you.”
“Why not?” Eddie folds his arms and quirks an eyebrow. “What about the chain of comm—”
“If you say chain of command, I will crash the car,” Buck interjects.
908 coda. Eddie stops keeping some secrets of his own, he and Buck talk, and Eddie discovers that fear may very well be the thief of joy.

Summary
The end of the night had gone something like:
“So… yeah?” Buck asked, blushing furiously and holding both of Eddie’s hands as he lingered near the front door.
“Yeah. Definitely,” Eddie answered, flushing a somehow darker shade of red than Buck.
And, okay, Eddie knows that’s not exactly a conversation, but it’s as good as! So he and Buck are… something. But it’s nearly twenty-four hours later, and they still haven’t kissed.
Five times Buck doesn't kiss Eddie under the mistletoe, and one time he does.

“Don’t say it like that!”
“Like what?”
“Like we’re best friends.”
“We are best friends, Buck,” Eddie huffs. There’s a little edge in his voice, like that’s a threat.
“Eddie, you ruined my life.”
Buck and Eddie handle Eddie's move to Texas as well as can be expected. That is to say, really fucking badly.

“You want to sub for me?” Buck asks, surprised but not altogether unwilling.
Eddie sets his jaw and averts his gaze. This is a horrible idea. It’s letting down one defense too many, even in front of Buck. He’s been mulling this over for days, finally working up the courage one night when they have the house to themselves.
“Not if—I mean, if you don’t want—Never mind, I shouldn’t have asked.”
“Eddie.” Buck says his name with such comfort, such love, that Eddie can’t help but look up. “I would love to do that with you.”

“Okay, Buckley, you’re laughing a little too hard at that,” Eddie says, sounding offended. “You don’t think I’d be a good boyfriend?”
“I didn’t say -” Buck tries to defend himself, but Eddie barrels right through it.
“You saying I wouldn’t treat you right?” Eddie stands and puts his hands on his hips, because apparently it’s that serious. “Let me tell you something, Buck, I’d blow your mind.”

Summary
“I made you leaving about myself, I made Bobby’s death about myself. Hell, I even managed to make your goodbye party about myself with my transfer request.”
“Don’t.”
“Don’t what, Eddie?” Buck challenges. “Ninety-seven acts, right? You’re just the latest one.”
He aimed right for Eddie’s heart and he knows it. But, see, there’d been a moment at the building collapse, when Buck was being unstrapped from his harness, that he and Eddie looked at one another. Only at one another. Then that thing in Buck’s chest, that warm feeling that has only ever been associated with Eddie, finally told Buck its name. And it hurts too much to be in love with Eddie and not even be the reason he stays.
Buck and Eddie finally fight about it, but this time they say what they mean. (8x18 coda - dw tim, i'll finish ur storylines for u)

Summary
If Bobby’s timeline was correct, Buck and Eddie had been dating for a couple weeks. Officially, that was. The two of them had been bringing an anxious, giddy tension with them to work that Bobby felt was much more obvious than Buck and Eddie realized.
That being said, neither of them had brought this blossoming relationship up to Bobby.
And that was how Bobby ended up third-wheeling at a Bruce Springsteen concert.
Bobby takes Buck and Eddie to a Bruce Springsteen concert, and Buck and Eddie both go to Bobby for advice on saying 'I love you' for the first time.

Summary
Buck’s not available to talk, Eddie reminds himself as he strips down and relaxes in bed. His mind forgot to add that bit to his thought, but it’s an important distinction. Buck, his best friend, whom Eddie would be devastated to lose, is at work saving lives, and therefore, not available to talk Eddie through his big revelation.
He pushes Buck from his mind for the time being, because that would be… wrong. Besides, Eddie doesn’t like to think about Buck like that. Sometimes that image permeates his thoughts, but that’s not so crazy. Buck is handsome, Eddie doesn’t need to be attracted to him to know that.
Eddie's not in love with Buck, his name just sounds like a prayer on Eddie's lips.

Summary
He’s on FaceTime with Eddie - kind of. Buck doesn’t know when they started doing this after shifts, but it was because sometimes work is too busy for them to hang out and talk. And what exactly is the point of working with your best friend if you can’t hang out with them? The call is still going, but Eddie is asleep. Buck knows he should hang up and go to sleep himself, but he’s never seen Eddie look this peaceful. It’s nice. He should look like this when he’s awake too.
Buck accidentally lets it slip that he's in love with Eddie.

Summary
Eddie isn’t sure when he fell in love with Buck, but it must have been a long time ago. Once he’d started working on himself, everything fell so easily into place. He still has a long way to go when it comes to allowing himself grace and forgiveness and, well, to drink the juice. But when Eddie had begun digging up all those things he’d repressed, there was one that surprised him and another that just made sense.
Eddie and Buck get trapped together on a call. They’ve got nothing but time and so much to talk about.

Summary
“Morning, champ,” Buck says as he watches Eddie blink awake.
Eddie smiles lazily and throws an arm over Buck’s waist, pulling him closer. “Champ,” he mumbles, laughing fondly. “Morning, handsome.”
Buck isn’t sure what’s worse: that this could be never-ending trial and error, or that he’ll never beat Eddie at his own game. That’s two easy points for Eddie to Buck’s zero.
Buck is desperate to find the pet name that best suits Eddie, because that's what a good friend and boyfriend would do! He's also trying not to say 'I love you' too soon, because it is too soon... right?
