Grantaire’s interest in Les Amis was purely professional, no matter what Joly liked to imply otherwise. He was a freelance detective, so naturally if there were a few high profile heists linked to the same group who had yet to be caught, he was curious. And yes, he might be slightly more fixated on Orestes than the rest, but only because Orestes appeared to be the leader, and learning more about Orestes meant learning more about the group as a whole.
or: Grantaire is a famous, semi-retired detective. The Amis steal from the rich, and Grantaire gets sucked into their world.

Summary
Feuilly moves to a new city to start over. He plans to keep his head down this time, to work an 8 to 5 job and keep to himself and settle for getting by. His hopes are modest, reasonable: He hopes to keep up on his loan payments, to get along with his coworkers, to get through another Christmas alone.
He doesn't plan on getting sucked into a group of literacy activists who care way too much, on getting involved in trying to fix the world again, on stumbling into people who actually seem to care about him. He doesn't plan on being happy.

Summary
Grantaire spends longer examining Enjolras’ apartment than Enjolras’ body, which is something he will never admit to anyone for as long as he lives. He almost jerks himself off in the shower, just to see what Enjolras looks like when he’s hard and desperate, but he can’t convince himself that it would be an okay thing to do. Does it still count as a sort of sexual assault if the body isn’t his and he doesn’t have permission?
He can’t resolve it, so leaves it alone and goes to his own apartment to see if Enjolras is in his body, and finds him having a panic attack.
Enjolras and Grantaire wake up in each other's bodies, and while Grantaire marvels at how free and confident he suddenly feels, Enjolras adjusts to being in a body that cringes away from unfamiliar situations and struggles to find an optimistic side to anything.

Summary
It's Winter Break and so, of course, all the students are home with their families, celebrating the holidays. Except for the ones that can't. Some aren't able to travel home to be with their families; others wouldn't spend the holiday with their families if you paid them a million dollars. Some aren't welcome at home anymore. Some have no home to go to.
A handful of these students connect when an ice storm knocks out the power. And they find that they are not as alone as they thought.
An origin story of sorts for the Amis.

I love this so much. Like with all my heart. Like I stayed up until 3:30 am because I couldn't stop reading it. Like I giggle-snorted with a lack of dignity normally unthinkable for a man of my stature. Like please platonically marry me.
I mean that last part sarcastically, of course. Who proposes to someone they don't even know?
