Summary
Samira looks at Robby and sees a father figure. Robby looks at her and sees himself. Jack Abbot sees them both so clearly.
--
She can hear her college roommate’s voice in her head. “That sounds like a textbook case of daddy issues.” Which isn’t entirely wrong. Like many young women with unresolved father-shaped wounds, she has a tendency to imprint onto older men.
It would be less weird if Samira wanted to fuck Robby.
What she wants is so much worse.
And yet it feels just as inappropriate to imagine. He’s her boss. Her abandonment issues and aching loneliness should be checked at the door when she walks into work because she’s twenty-seven years old and this is a fucking emergency room.
And yet. It doesn’t stop her from wanting.

Maybe that’s what a father is, just glimpses of past & potential in the shape of a person you keep reaching for in the present. Someone to project your hopes on despite the hurt he causes. A knot she cannot untangle. Maybe that’s what her father would have become if he had lived long enough for either of them to really disappoint each other.
as someone with the exact same brand of daddy issues this fic DEVASTATED me

Summary
Dana would probably make fun of him, about how Langdon treats him like the Father and Robbie joins in like Langdon’s his son, his spitting image. How Robbie treats him like the son he could've had and never did. But unfortunately for everyone, himself included, Robbie has never thought Langdon as his son, not truly. As a protégé, sure. As his best student, best resident. As the best thing he's ever been able to mold in his image and likeness, like God would do.

Bookmarker's Notes
Robbie closes his eyes because he doesn’t want to see, he doesn’t want to face the image of his R3 on his knees. Is this how God feels when Robbie prays? He almost wants to laugh; what a sick joke this all feels like, this plastic reverence they both play with.
