He’d cut himself off, looking up from the floor to seemingly judge George’s reaction, pressing his lips together nervously and taking a deep breath when George had nodded reassuringly, offering him a small smile.
“–I just, I really can’t sleep.”

Dream messed up. Like, really messed up. Like, off-the-charts-horrible-disaster-category-five-hurricane messed up. He needs a Christmas miracle to save his ass. Well, that or a kind stranger with a twinkle in his eye who just can't stop smiling.

It scared him—seeing Dream like this scared him. He was never supposed to be this… vulnerable.
The dagger in his hands was much heavier now. It would take one swing to finish Dream off. In the state he was in, he’d never be able to deflect it.
And yet, George was transfixed in place.
“Sorry,” Dream murmured, and it was so quiet George had to step forward a bit to hear. “I just didn’t… know where else to go.”
His last words were nothing more than a breath, and with them, his legs buckled under him, letting his body fall.
Or, Dream gets injured and shows up at George's doorstep. This wasn't in the hunters' manual.

“I ran so fast that day, literally out of breath while all I could think about was getting you a bouquet of roses and vanilla ice cream, but—” George interrupts himself with a laugh. “I didn’t bring enough money, and the scrapbooks were on sale.”
If the smile fading from Dream’s face is any indication, the halted heartbeat proves his shock further as they both sit in a short silence. The scrapbook. He had forgotten about it.
Now it just feels like he’s been missing it every day for the past three years.
Or, George knew that moving back here wouldn't be easy. Still, his ex knocking on the door in the middle of the night isn't particularly helping his case.

George’s lips parted in contemplation, a mixture and an internal debate between the healed and the wounded. Dream just looked down at him like he was the only person he would ever fall for—maybe that’s why he craved it so much.
Dream was sinking and boy if he was going below the surface he needed something to either pull him back up or be his anchor.
But George didn’t have the strength to pull him back up.
He pulled Dream by his collar and smashed their lips together in an instant.

Or, Dream goes to a wedding months after being broken up with George. He hates him for the way he left him but still loves him too much to walk away when they run into each other in a secluded part of the venue.
