“Are you sure? Maybe you weren’t hiding, maybe you were trying to find a box to stand on!” Dazai posits, all too cheery about insulting Chuuya’s height, as he contently drums his fingers.
“Hah?! I don’t need a box to see over the counter!” Chuuya vehemently argues, his cheeks a light shade of pink, as Dazai maintains his smirk.
“Mm, are you sure about that?” Dazai repeats as if he already knows the truth and it only makes Chuuya turn even more red. “A pint-sized garden slug like you needs all the height he can get,” he adds on with a faultless, beaming smile and, honestly, Chuuya can’t decide whether he’s insulted or enamored. Maybe a bit of both.
Or: What if Hanahaki were contagious? What if Chuuya is pining, but Dazai is choking on flowers?

Summary
His wild, brown hair sticks to his forehead as he tries to catch his breath, chest heaving from the minimal exertion, as the light catches his eyes just right to reveal a sliver of liquid gold amongst the darkness. The darkness cascades from one shore to the other in unpredictable patterns of seafoam and melancholy, and those waves begin to pound in Chuuya’s chest no less. At the center of the cacophony is Dazai. The pink tinge to his cheeks-
“And you get distracted too easily,” Dazai shoots back with a lopsided smirk, holding Chuuya’s wrists between them as red hair pools on his shoulder like liquid fire. When Chuuya goes to speak, he prays his voice doesn't crack.
“And if this were a real battle, you’d be dead a long time ago."
Or: Chuuya is Dazai's personal knight and has to handle a suicidal maniac prince that he also happens to be in love with, even if Dazai doesn't love him back... yet.

Summary
He had Chuuya’s apartment memorized down to the last spec of dust. But now the wine isn't in the far left cupboard anymore, he can’t find the damn sugar to replace it with salt, can’t even steal one of Chuuya’s chocolates because his not-so-secret sweets stash is suddenly secret again, and the hats collecting dust aren't on the rack. He expected Chuuya to stay the same even though he himself had changed.
But Chuuya isn't sure if he's ready to forgive.
Or: Dazai is in Chuuya’s apartment for the first time in 4 years following his defection and suddenly the cruel reality that Chuuya changed while he was gone is hitting him all at once.
