Summary
It was the wrong night for a breakup, but then again, any night would have been. Most Virginia summers were sweltering, even when the sun left. Tonight, though, there were no clouds in the sky, and there was a gentle breeze that made everything feel painfully soft and fresh.
They were fighting too much lately. College, distance, dreaming. Most of Ronan’s calls to Harvard these days ended worse than they began. It wasn’t all bad, but when it was. And Adam was reluctant to admit it was mostly his fault. He was stressed, he was on edge. Sometimes he could feel himself itching for a fight, and so he would make one. Don’t be like him, he told himself. But it didn’t matter.
(Adam and Ronan break up, and things are awkward. Slowly, they bridge the gap.)

Dear Neil,
If you’re reading this, you must be in dire need of a change.
The same thing happened to me, long ago. I’d lost sight of what mattered most in life… real connections with other people and nature. So I dropped everything and moved to the place I truly belonged.(or: Neil welcomes a needed change, and is surprised by what he finds.)

Words didn’t seem to have much meaning when they were like whispering and actions were like screaming. Their love wasn’t words because words weren’t enough, would never be enough.

Summary
Things Adam Parrish was: stubborn, ethereal, thoughtful, semi-possessed by a forest that someone else had dreamed, a forest that Noah was irrevocably tangled into. Handsome. Touching Ronan’s face.
Things Ronan Lynch was: mean, razor-sharp, terrible at bagpipes. The dreamer of the aforementioned forest of fuckery that Noah was irrevocably tangled into. Also handsome. Leaning into Adam’s touch. Biting Adam’s lower lip.
Things Noah Czerny was: dead.
The lists seemed pretty unfair, in comparison.

Lucretia has done him a great mercy, he supposes. You can’t miss what you never knew you had in the first place.
(Taako muses on love, and loss, and being generally kind of a horrible person.)

Summary
He saw the duffel.
It was battered all to hell and the strap was nearly torn from the bag, but it still glowed almost neon in the darkening night and streetlamp glare. Neil would never…
He dropped to his knees beside it and rifled through it, looking for any sign, any clue as to where Neil might have run. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Until his fingers found the keyring. Until he found the phone.Andrew's perspective on the Binghamton riot and the walking tragedy that is Neil Josten.
