“That’s not-” Shane starts, but he stops himself. Ilya tilts his head slightly in question, but Shane bites the inside of his cheek and then shakes his head slightly, cheeks flushing. “I do trust you,” Shane says.
“But not with your car?” Ilya asks. “You are afraid I will drive all the boring out of it?”
Shane rolls his eyes.
“It’s a good car-” He starts in another refrain of one of his favorite summer songs.
Ilya rolls them and pins his boyfriend under him before he has to hear about four wheel drive and gas mileage again.
There are far better uses for Shane’s mouth, after all.

Shane turns off the light and curls up on his side, leaning against a pillow. He turns his phone brightness down so it won’t sting his eyes, his face barely illuminated for Ilya to see in the darkness.
Ilya doesn’t cut off his own lights, just hums appreciatively into the phone, “Is nice, I see your freckles this way.”
“You won’t have time to see them on Thursday because I’ll be skating too fast for you to catch up.”
Ilya smiles, “So mean to me, I tell you you are beautiful and you tell me to die.”

“There is this club. Here in Boston. It is queer club, but secret. No phones, sign NDA beforehand. The cover charge is high, so is more– more exclusive.” He says this nonchalantly, gesturing to the air. He looks up and makes eye contact with Shane. “We could go.” Shrugs. “Together.”
Shane stares at him, mouth open slightly. He waits for the punchline, like Rozanov is setting up some ridiculous joke. Rozanov just stares back at him, almost as if he isn’t breathing. It takes Shane a second to realize that he is being serious, and the earnestness of the invitation nearly brings him to his knees.
“Ilya Rozanov,” Shane grins. “Are you asking me out on a date?”
