ricky's wide eyes turned to him, lips parted in surprise. slowly, gunwook brought them down, forgetting about the chaos around them. touch gentle, he helped ricky stabilize himself on the floor, knees weak from the adrenaline crash. he could hear the other's heartbeat, and feared his chest must hurt quite a bit.
"how do you…?" for the first time since he's met him, ricky was speechless. "how do you know my name?"

Summary
Deceit never thought he’d get caught napping in the Main Sides commons. Luckily, he was disguised as a snake at the time. Unluckily, the one Side who would never let him go picked him up. Admittedly, there are worse things in the world than being stuck as Roman’s pet; it gives him a chance to learn more about the other Side, to find something he can take advantage of. Deceit finds himself distracted by the surprising mystery that Roman presents.
When another part of Thomas hidden away rises in power, Deceit takes a risk and asks for Roman’s help. So he can find blackmail, clearly, and not because he’s grown fond of the other Side or anything. That alone, they could have handled. But the secrets Roman keeps, their own family, and Deceit’s refusal to acknowledge anything between the two of them complicate matters. the best sanders sides fanfic i've ever read.
the characterization is on point! i may like this deceit more than canon janus, and janus is my favorite character from ss, so that's saying something, you know. the romance is so believable, and god, they balance off of each other so well. i live for their dynamic!
great villain and antagonist. apathy is a real threat, and i love that. i cried so much because of him. also, virgil... god, i hate him here, because his descent into paranoia is so believable. logan and roman's friendship is great, too. eh, i don't dislike patton. but, yeah. and wow, this might be the only fanfic where i actively like/care for remy.
this is so great. it's just golden.
