Summary
Instead of Shane, it is Ilya who suffers a concussion during the Boston-Montreal game in April 2017. Dazed and agitated, Ilya briefly starts speaking and responding only in Russian and the medics can’t calm him down. Luckily, Shane started studying Russian after Ilya spoke to him in Russian on the phone from Moscow. For no particular reason. Certainly not because he’s fallen in love with Ilya Rozanov.
In Montreal with lingering concussion symptoms, Ilya is advised not to fly home for a few days, and the hospital won’t release him without assurances that he has someone to stay with him until his symptoms improve. Luckily, Shane conveniently has a condo in Montreal no one knows about and a few days before he has to travel again.
But Ilya’s symptoms don’t resolve after a few days. Which is okay; Shane can handle it. He can take care of Ilya, study Russian, lead his team into the playoffs, and keep Ilya’s continued presence in Montreal a secret. He can do everything, no problem. He is Shane Hollander after all.

Summary
There was a group of girls, mostly sisters of some of the Canada players, giggling in a circle on the left side of the stands, whispering about how handsome both Rozanov and Hollander were in the game and debating who would buy whose jersey. Behind them, a small league coach was typing on his nokia for his “Hockey Dad’s” facebook group:
"Rozanov won with strength and brutal persistence, but Hollander’s strategy and speed would have taken a one-on-one. If Hollander and Rozanov had a baby, it will be the messiah of hockey"
His post will get 4k likes, and 367 comments. One of the top comments read:
"I will call that child Hollanov and bet on them in every game."
The NHL liked that comment. And that’s how the internet first heard about #Hollanov.

Summary
Shane decides to surprise Ilya after he beats him.
Shane smiled at him. “I wanted to cheer you up from your loss.”
Ilya glared at him a little, but there was no ice behind it, instead a warmth that spread from his head to his toes. Ilya stalked toward him, like a predator locking on to his prey, and Shane only let his legs fall open as his boyfriend fit between them. “Maybe I let you win,” Ilya whispered as his nose nudged along Shane’s jaw.
“Fuck you,” Shane whispered as he tilted his head so he could catch Ilya’s mouth with his own. He didn’t think anything could feel better than kissing Ilya, nothing could quite compare- well maybe winning a cup would beat it, but only by a smidge. Ilya licked into his mouth, claiming Shane’s tongue as his own, and his right hand snaking down to rub a thumb over the jut of Shane’s hip where the lace laid beautifully against his skin. Shane gasped as his head fell to the side allowing his boyfriend the access to his neck where he could nip and bite.

It was two rings and then his thick accent and smooth voice washed over Shane like a slow molasses. “Hollander,” Rozanov sighed. “It is late. I thought you had date, no?”
“I fucked up,” Shane whispered biting back a sob.
Shane drops after he sleeps with someone that's not Ilya, so naturally he calls Ilya to take care of him.

Ilya tutted. “Uhm like Father Christmas- Santa Claus, yes? Only, on New Year. Old man visits home, walks through front door, and greets children with present. Less creepy than Santa Claus.”
Shane furrowed his eyebrows. “You think Santa is creepy?”
“Listen to song, Shane. He sees you when you’re sleeping- knows when you’re awake..” Ilya waved a hand and scrunched up his face as he gently leaned over to inspect the small Christmas village people. “He watches like some pervert.”
Shane surprises Ilya by decorating for christmas....Shane gets railed....and Ilya makes the Hollander parents cry.
