Her whole life, Bella always felt that she didn't quite fit with other humans. She thought she lost her one chance to find her place when the Cullens left. But that's not how chances work. And maybe Bella isn't the broken misfit she always thought. Sometimes finding your place doesn't require a big change. Sometimes it's as easy as breathing. When Edward told Bella she would forget and move on it seemed especially cruel. But the ability to change, grow, and adapt is truly beautiful, and strong. It’s human.
As long as you’re alive, there’s hope.
Now Bella and the pack just have to survive what's coming.

She was shockingly thin, with dark bags under her eyes framed by flat, dark hair hanging limply on the sides of her face. Her eyes, which had once shone with delight and flashed with intuition, now stood as two decaying statues of an old, forgotten monument, crumbling against gravity and the wars which left their empire to rot.
Her face lit dimly with a spark of enthusiasm, and the edges of her mouth twitched up in a poor mockery of her old grin.
“Hey, Jacob!” Her smile widened and became more familiar.

I took issue with how smeyer treated my boy, as many of us have, and I took it upon myself to re-write the series from Jacob's POV and fix some of the problems I had. This is basically a head canon of how I would write twilight, were I ever given such a job - which I would like to clarify; nobody asked for this.
