I knew where all the furniture was so I wouldn't fumble around in the dark, making noise and waking him up. And now I don't. The whole universe shifted half a foot to the left."
After Robotnik's death, Stone tried to hold it together. He kept up with his work. He befriended a stray cat. He tried, but he couldn't. He needed him back, whatever it took.

It was fixed on a glass tank full of liquid, with a man suspended inside. He was curled in on himself with his hands tucked close to his face like a fetus in utero. His face was familiar. More than familiar. Stone had seen that same side profile in the mirror countless times by now. His body went cold.
Before his death, Robotnik had just enough time to create a clone of Stone. He left them both feeling angry and betrayed on Earth. Stone has a talk with himself.

New episode days are supposed to bring joy, especially for that first watch. Stone always goes shopping because he knows the hyper-focus is needed for his analysis. They'll watch it together later like always later and he'll be able to know exactly how to show off to Stone on everything he called and provide additional foreshadowing and context to better enhance his partner's viewing experience. So why is it so hollow today?
Or, some solo time leads the Doctor to spiral and upon his return to the crab, Stone prepares a stargazing date for the two of them from the top of the crab.

For as long as Mr. Tinker can remember — which, admittedly, isn’t very long — he’s always been surrounded by friends. Human friends, strange talking-animal friends, friends he makes out of metal and wires. There’s hardly a day that goes by without someone to say hello to. It’s nice, this little life he has. He likes it.
And of course, although Mr. Tinker would never say it out loud, he does have his favorites among the people he greets in his day-to-day. The youngest of the Wachowski boys, Tails, likes to stop by the store often with puzzles and treats, and Mrs. Lancaster down the street is an absolute delight to play cards with. But more than anyone else, Mr. Tinker likes to talk to the owner of Green Hills’ most prominent café, the Mean Bean.
It’s like going to see an old friend, visiting Mr. Stone at the café. At least, Mr. Tinker imagines it is, if he had any old friends to remember. But it’s something comforting and familiar, in a way that makes Mr. Tinker’s heart flutter in his chest. He just hopes that one of these days, when he smiles at Mr. Stone, he won’t look so terribly sad when he smiles back.
