Summary
It happens as Renoir says it would happen: Alicia’s body, failing Maelle day by day. As Renoir had chipped away patiently at Aline’s creations, Maelle’s memories slip away from her the longer she spends in the Canvas, the oldest first and then many more besides. To his own quiet horror, Verso finds that with each memory lost, his contentious relationship with Maelle grows easier—and, with each new thing she comes to depend on him for, he begins to cross lines that perhaps he should not.
(A spinning out of how Maelle’s end must surely end, even as Verso finds his resentment morphing into something both uglier and more tender.)

Summary
Maelle and Verso struggle with what they are to each other—and what they are not. Maelle wants knowledge; Verso wants only to have known less. In the end, it seems all they can agree on is disagreeing, and so the dance continues.

Summary
Yu burns the evidence Adachi places before him. It must have been curiosity, he reasons, because he is not sure himself why else he would have done it. He supposes someone else, some higher force, must have had the same question. Yu goes to sleep on the train ride home and finds himself thrown back one year prior, on a train heading towards Inaba again.
It's April 2011, he has been granted a second chance, and he's not sure what to do with himself except to fixate on his mistakes. One mistake in particular, in the form of an altogether wretched man. Adachi doesn't know him anymore, but he does. He knows it all.

Summary
Before he ventures off into Vault 31, Norm unwittingly befriends one of the raiders trapped in the reading room turned holding cell. His budding association with an ostensible murderer strains his relationship with Chet, who is just beginning to realize how much of an anchor his other cousin has been in his life.
(In which Norm begins to think there might be something worthwhile on the surface, and Chet learns poorly how to deal with that feeling that might be called jealousy.)

Summary
In blue hours, Shishido wondered what he should call himself once he became king. Something akin to the Dragon of Dojima. Something that he could finally be proud of. Something that didn’t make him want to flay his skin off when it was used on him.
But. In times like these—when the lines between Captain and Lieutenant got hazy—Tsuruno was the only one who could say his name and make it sound like it truly belonged to him.
Shishido reflects upon his possible last good night out with Tsuruno as the pair wander through the end of the night to Operation Party Hardy.

"“Y-you don’t need to be that concerned about me,” Hanawa managed to say, “I mean thank you, but an agent doesn’t have to concern himself that much about their managers well being. I-”
“Hanawa,” Kiryu interrupted him, his voice low and soft.
Hearing Kiryu say his name like that, Hanawa suppressed a shudder.
“This has nothing to do with us being an agent and a manager,” Kiryu continued, taking a step toward him, removing his glasses."
The night before heading back to the temple, Kiryu shows up at the Daidoji hideout during his last minute run around town. Much to Hanawa's surprise, Kiryu invites him out for a drink before they go back. Despite his unease about letting his responsibilities go to the wayside, Hanawa agrees. Unexpectedly, during their night out, he ends up having to acknowledge his recent feelings for Kiryu.
