    Found it! Probably the first TeenWolf story I ever read, before I'd seen the show, back when I didn't even know who was a wolf, or who any of the characters were, or who was this Derek person. Clearly it hooked me in.

They and their ragtag pack ride the rails between the outposts and the Havens, performing for those who can pay (and some who can't). Their circus is a small haven in and of itself, a place of safety for those who have nowhere else to go.

    It's a quiet life...until Stiles Stilinski joins the crew.

    The circus has something Stiles needs—a ticket into the Haven of Santa Francesca. His father has been abducted, and Stiles is determined to get him back no matter what he has to do.

    But Stiles has another secret, one that puts him and every member of the circus in danger. And if he's not careful, it could get them all killed.

    I can't possibly love this story more than I do. Kinda post-apocolyptic-steam-punky fantasy. Mechanical dragon. Circus. Steam-train. Such amazing characterization.

    There is an uneasy truce between the werewolves in the woods and the humans who live in Beacon Hills, protected by a magical boundary that gives warning any time a werewolf crosses it. Then the sheriff is taken by the werewolves and his son offers himself in exchange.

    Stiles promises to serve the werewolf pack, not knowing what horrible use they might have for him. But it turns out his most useful skill is the ability to cross the boundary line between humans and werewolves. Life with the werewolves is nothing like he feared and the werewolves themselves are nothing like the hunters' stories would have him believe.
