“I don’t knoooww,” An leans on him, giggly and warm, before suddenly straightening up. “Didn’t I literally just ask?” Akito shrugs noncommittally, basking in the warmth.
“Whatever, I got one. How d’you feel about Toya? Haven’t seen you guys hold hands like that before.” Akito can see her smile through the glass of her cup as she raises it to her mouth, and the slightly amusing distortion does nothing for the sudden pang in his chest.
Akito and An have a few drinks together after one of Vivid BAD SQUAD’s shows. More than a few questions are asked.

“A double suicide,” Dazai muses. It falls flat between the two of them.
“A mercy kill,” Fyodor counters.

Maybe it’s a draw. Maybe the board has been overturned, or perhaps it never really existed to begin with. We are still both going to die here.”
