Caitlyn’s breath hitched, her grip tightening on the rifle pressed against the shorter woman's front.
“That depends,” she met Vi's powder-blue eyes. “Would you stop after one?”

Caitlyn Kiramman didn’t ask for a bodyguard, especially not one like Vi. Brash and irreverent, Vi is everything Caitlyn’s upbringing taught her to distrust. But after a dangerous case leaves her battered, Caitlyn’s parents insist on assigning Vi to her side, despite her protests.
Vi isn’t thrilled either. Babysitting some privileged enforcer with a stick up her ass wasn’t part of her plan, but a job’s a job, and Vi has debts to pay. Besides, ruffling Caitlyn’s feathers turns out to be surprisingly fun.

Caitlyn stood frozen in the doorway of the bakery, staring at Vi in a maroon apron.
"Huh," Vi said, one eyebrow raised in her direction. "Didn’t think I’d see you slumming it in Zaun, cupcake."
Caitlyn’s voice caught in her throat. "I—I needed WiFi."

As the face of the Kirraman name and daughter of high Piltovan Senator Cassandra Kirraman, Caitlyn prided herself in her status as student council president, tennis captain, and in general being the absolute academic powerhouse that she is— well that was, until Violet Lanes moved into her final year at the Academy.
Seemingly without a care, the annoyingly attractive pink-haired girl has managed to go neck for neck with Caitlyn in every exam the past half year despite not showing an inkling of control over what in Caitlyn's eye is absolutely unacceptable behaviour.
To most this is admirable. To Caitlyn? Well, she thinks she might die if she doesn't throw the other girl off a roof soon
or in her bed.
Everything changes however when a fight with her mother sends Caitlyn out of her pristine upper-class world into the streets of Zaun when she stumbles across a cozy bakery where, to her shock, Vi is working behind the counter.

Vi is not coping well.
After being abandoned by everything and everyone she’s ever known, Vi is left with no one to protect and no place left to call home.
That is, until a familiar flash of blue appears in the crowdCaitlyn, finally coming to her senses, realises just how badly she fucked up.
She was wrong, she needs Vi.
Now she descends into the pits of Zaun with the intention of making things right again.
