Summary
Loki and dragon!Tony knew each other of old. Both struggled with impossible fathers and peace-keeping mothers, both had few friends, both had powers their fathers were better off not knowing about. In the end, it was practically fate that they gave their loyalty only to each other.
Then Loki appears on Earth, where Tony has made his nest, and Tony sees straight away that his friend/lover is not himself. And Tony will get him back, and burn the world in the process if need be.

Summary
When Loki left Earth in chains following the Battle of New York, Tony and the Avengers had thought (hoped, really) that that was the last they'd ever see of the Chaos god.
But Tony Stark wouldn't be Tony Stark if his curiosity and his attempts at doing the Right Thing™ did not end up biting him in the ass.
And now, only seven months after leaving, Loki is very pissed off and back on Earth. Only, this time, with Odin's blessing and the clear demand that Loki should marry a form of Earth Royalty to 'strengthen the alliance between Earth and Asgard' (yeah, right. Tony recognised a time out when he saw one).
Every government in the world puts forward their royals - or the closest things they have to royalty - because of course who wouldn't want the special benefits of having such a powerful alien race as their in laws?
The US does not have royalty.
But they do have Tony Stark.
(He was never doing a Right Thing™ for anyone ever again)

When Thor threw Loki headfirst into that cliff, he had no idea he would break the mind control of the sceptre and Thanos' minions.
This changes everything.
With Loki not wanting the invasion, they can find the Tesseract and stop the portal quicker than in the film. How will this change things in the immediate future?
And with the information Loki can provide, there is no one to tell Tony he is paranoid when the possibility of a second invasion comes up. With S.H.I.E.L.D. ignored and the UN approached, there is little Fury can do to gain control of the situation.One-shot (for now... yeah, I know I say that a lot!)
