Some things could only be learned by experiencing them, not just hearing about them, and he could at least say he'd learned a hell of a lot. With that in mind, for a good chunk of his modern life, Hitoya put some amount of importance in first experiences, even more so ensuring that they were favorable.
Maybe that was why, on Jyushi's twentieth birthday, on a not-too-chilly April evening, Hitoya found himself dead-set on making Jyushi's first drink worth the time it took to get to it.
His first drink… and if Jyushi's expectations had been made overt enough, a first of a different kind as well.
