Summary
Saiki is assaulted walking home one day and for months he is fine, really he is. Then one day he’s suddenly...not and everything goes to shit.
(Not graphic, just a recovery fic mainly because...well we love to vent in this house and project our problems onto fictional characters. Summary
When Ash was little, when he still lived under the grim thumb of Cape Cod, he would pass a slaughterhouse on his way to school. See the truck loads of pigs hover towards the gates in that damned janky truck and never be seen again. Sometimes if you were walking by foot, in little red rain boots which tiptoed across the puddles- you could hear the gunshots go off. Sharp and fatal. He remembers falling back onto his butt in terror one time and running back bawling to Griff. When those memories occasionally whisper his noggin- Ash would tell you that he swears he heard the pigs scream before the shots. That they screamed- harsh and wailing like stars exploding in a black hole or like a kid being ringed through hell.
(Also this is not a anti meat eating thing- i eat a unholy amount of chicken- i’m just drawing from my own experiences living in a area similar to where Ash grew up and wrote about how I think it would have affected him considering what he’s gone through. Also warnings for slight horror themes as I cannot seem to write one thing without some horror aspect to it lol but it’s not a lot just mentions of like slaughterhouses and stuff)

Summary
Shorter shrugs and the motion - languid, smooth, careless - makes everything in Ash’s body hurt. How easily he forgives. How easily he loves. How beautiful, to be able to give out such declarations with so much grace. “Doesn’t bother me.”
He tosses his apron in a corner, tugging his work shirt over his head and adding it onto the steadily growing pile of identical, smelly shirts. Ash wrinkles his nose. “Do laundry more often.”
“I’ll do your mom,” Shorter grumbles, then gestures to the bed. “May I?”
Ash nods, and Shorter offers a sweeping bow. “His majesty is generous today.”
“Fuck off.”
