“I’m good now, I swear.” Akira noses at Goro’s cheek, skimming his fingertips up Goro’s bare sides, sending ticklish little sparks down Goro’s spine. “You tamed me years ago.”
Narrowing his eyes, Goro catches one of Akira’s seeking hands. “Not very well, apparently.” He leans back to meet Akira’s shining gaze. “A good pet wouldn’t distract me while I’m trying to work.”
Akira blinks. Then the heat in his stare shifts, melting into something low and meaningful that echoes through Goro with a slow ripple. “I’m so sorry, master—” he draws the last word out, removing his hands from Goro’s waist and folding them behind his back. “I’ll behave.”

Goro stops walking. His wide eyes glisten under the streetlights—glossy like the twin buttons on a teddy bear’s face, glossy like the buttons on his crisp linen shirt, glossy like the metaphorical buttons that Akira aches to push. They stand still long enough for a car to rumble past, long enough for Akira’s pulse to skyrocket, for his palms to clam up with sweat that has nothing to do with the heat.
“If it’s only a matter of buttons,” Akechi whispers, “then I could say the same about you. Seduction is just... altering your behavior, tailoring it, putting on a show. Give me a week, Kurusu. I’ll make you the ‘desperate’ one.”
(Or: Goro and Akira make a bet.)

Akira takes in a slow breath.
“They suggested—more like ordered, actually—that… the maids could start picking up more work in the kitchen…”
“They what?!”
Goro’s back on her feet in a flash, and Akira cowers backward from the sudden movement as the pad of Goro’s socked footsteps approach him, an expression of pure terror on his face as though a shoeless maid in his personal space is the most threatening thing he’s ever seen in his life.
“Are you telling me I have to cook?!”
