Summary
Deep inside the forest stands a cottage full of magic. Its owner Jimin is the local witch who knows how to extract and bottle nature's magical essences.
When Jimin is on his longer trips through the gloomy forest, searching for mysterious seeds and sprouts, someone needs to take care of his cottage. Usually, painter Jeongguk, who lives in the village of Duskhallow right at the edge of the forest, takes care of his various magical plants and items.
One day, when Jimin seems to have left unannounced, Jeongguk is not exactly surprised by the other's spontaneous disappearance as the hard-working witch is not only famous for his powers but also his forgetfulness. Without complaining, Jeongguk moves in and takes care of everything as he did many times before.
The fluffy yellow baby chick which jumped at his feet when he entered the kitchen is new, though.

"Jimin fights off a sigh, trying not to fall into thought about Jungkook now that he’s on Jimin’s mind. He tends to do that. Jungkook is very easy to be distracted by, even ten years into knowing him. Jimin knows there’s nothing for it at this point, he’s tried all manner of things to help. They’ve been best friends for ten years and Jimin has been in love with him from the start.
It’s not something he’s particularly proud of. Not that loving Jungkook isn’t something to be proud of, because it is and anyone would be lucky to love him, it’s only… Jimin’s never told him and he probably never will."

Jimin and Jungkook have been best friends for ten years, falling into the routine of being the other's person easily and readily. It's comfortable, fun, familiar and warm. There isn't any combination of words to describe what they have in each other after all these years, they just are what they are. Neither of them would change a thing.
Except they would, actually. They both hold a secret near to their chests, afraid of what it might mean if they told the other how they really felt. Jimin and Jungkook are both stupidly in love and entirely convinced that it isn't and won't ever be mutual.
