She was pretty sure that she completely threw Alessia off who just stared at her in disbelief for a second, almost losing balance on the arm that she was leaning against after lifting her head from Leah’s shoulder so quickly. Leah laughed as she wrapped an arm around Alessia so she didn’t fall backwards. She had become an expert in her wife’s clumsiness over the years.
Alessia regained her composure and thought for a second, “Yeah,” she whispered with a little uncertainty before pausing and smiling, “Definitely,” she added more confidently.

The distance between their places was 235 kilometres or 146 miles as the crow flies it, but Leah and Alessia couldn't fly, so it was 184.2 miles going via the M6 and M1. It normally took just over three hours. Three hours turned out to actually be quite a long time. It wasn't like they could commute from each other's places to training, or could they? Spoiler: they can; they are insanely in love.
5 times that Leah and Alessia drive three hours just to see each other overnight before commuting three hours back to training the next morning, and 1 time that they don't need to anymore.

There's nothing amiss about the morning at first. Alessia is scrolling peacefully through Instagram, Leah sitting up on the pillows beside her sipping a coffee and reading a book. The March sun is streaming in through the windows, lighting the room and bathing it golden. Leah laughs a little at something in her book, Alessia likes a post; they're quiet, content.
A post featuring her name catches Alessia's eye. They don't always come up but she's been tagged in this one, and several times in the comments too. She frowns, clicking on it. It's probably just an edit or some rumour about her moving clubs or something. There's always posts like that.
