The demogorgon is lifeless, and Will’s never seemed so full of it. He unfurls his hands and lifts his head to meet Mike’s waiting eye, and—for a long while, he just stares, knuckles smearing blood across his upper lip, headlights painting him golden.
I love you, Mike thinks fleetingly, then pitches forward and pukes onto the street.
Mike has a concussion—and a few other issues. Set after the events of Chapter Four: Sorcerer.

If he’s dying— if these are truly the last words that will ever be spoken between them— there’s only one thing he can say. “I love you. I’m in love with you, Mike, please. You can’t go. I love you so much,” Will whispers, cradling his body to his chest.

Will confesses his feelings as Mike takes his last breaths— and then Mike decides to be a stubborn asshole about it and survives. Will is left to deal with the aftermath of his choice, navigating an awkward new friendship.

And he’s good at noticing things; he knew when Erica stole any of his action figures. He knew when Dustin lied about being sick because he always sounded so guilty over the radio. He knew that Will and Mike had a special relationship. He knew that there was something El wasn’t telling them when Will was missing. He knew Mike clung onto her in a weird way. He knew that kids calling Will, ‘Zombie Boy,’ meant more than just him coming back to life. He knew when Max liked him. He knew when she was mad at him, and he knew when to leave her alone or beg her for forgiveness.
He knew that he was different. He knows that he’s different.

So, he’s not stupid. Far from it, actually.
And that’s why he knows Mike is acting really, really weird.
