For every day that passed since Ben vanished from her life, a new line appeared on her arm.
The Force was keeping track of how long they were apart, which meant that there was a possibility of a reunion.
But there was also a possibility that this was a cruel joke on the Force’s part. Who knew, maybe the Force wanted to decorate Rey in millions of lines. Perhaps that was what she got for being a Palpatine, but that couldn’t be it—the Force worked in mysterious ways but always had a reason.
Even if there was a way to see Ben again, Rey had no idea how to find him.
After all, he was dead and part of the Force now, wasn’t he?

But everything starts to unravel when a new neighbor moves in next door. The walls she's built come crumbling down for the uniquely handsome man who always wears a three-piece suit, complete with a pair of leather gloves, regardless of how hot it is.
The chance encounter turns into frequent run-ins, with the single most important factor that had ruined any relationship she ever tried having in the past being absent.

Ben Solo, Professor of Physics, was definitely not in love with his uncle's goddaughter, Rey. Nope, no way. So what if he crashed on her couch so often that his own bed at home felt foreign? Or that they messaged multiple times a day, with Rey constantly reminding him not to kill the assholes in his department? Or that he had to remind Rey to eat, or physically drag her out of her apartment, when it neared deadlines for her thesis.
They were each other's best friend, having met over a decade ago. There was no way he was going to jeopardize his friendship with her for a maybe crush, despite the knowing glances and passing comments from Finn and Rose. And if Rey ended up dating and later marrying someone else, then so be it. Ben would have to deal with it, since Rey's success and happiness was paramount to him.
It was a shame that Ben was too oblivious to recognise Rey's feelings.
But then again, Rey was just as oblivious in regards to her own feelings for him.
