Summary
Aerion Targaryen has never met an alpha with a scent that doesn't repulse him. Their harsh, irony scent fills him with disgust and ensures he keeps a far distance from them. That is, until he meets Sir Duncan the Tall. The lowborn knight's scent calls to him, creating a burning fire inside of him that he knows only this brutish knight can quench. Aerion hates it. He is the blood of the dragon, and he doesn't want to give in to his most basic nature. But when he discovers the hedge knight has been spending time around a certain omega puppeteer, he simply can't have that. The dragon does not share what is his.

Lex snatches the phone and glowers at the paused video with a very different, technically familiar man hunched with their nose in their screen behind White in the same place as the newspaper photo. “That is Clark Kent.”
“Yes, sir,” the CO says, annoyingly hesitant, “I-I mean, he looks a little different in this one, sure –”
“A little?” Lex snaps, then taps a knuckle at the paper on the desk. “Are you fucking blind?”
The CO rolls her lips between her teeth.
Lex growls under his breath and minimizes the browser, bringing up the first social media site that comes up on autocomplete. He searches Clark Kent, taps on the ‘Reporter :)’ result and scowls when he sees it gets updated about once a millennium. It is, also, that same face from the press conference, not the one in the paper. He scrolls, and scrolls, and–
Wait. That’s what it is – it’s all videos. He doesn’t see a single still photo in the lot.

Before he can gather anything resembling a thought, Aerion takes his hand and laces their fingers, and Dunk can only notice how he dwarfs the smaller hand, feeling a bit insecure about how rough his palm feels against the smooth skin. But Aerion has a surprisingly strong grip for someone so slight and pulls him toward a table where four members of the Targaryen family sit, staring at them in open bewilderment.
“This is him,” Aerion says, hooking his arm through Dunk’s and pressing in close, smaller body warm against his side. “My boyfriend.”
Dunk freezes. Very, very still. Because that is… not right.
(Or Dunk has to keep pretending to be Aerion’s boyfriend— partly to avoid getting torn to shreds by an overly-dramatic family for hurting his pretend lover’s entirely imaginary feelings, and partly because he’s hopelessly in love and will take what he can get.)

Aerion felt the first gush of slick drip between his legs. Duncan must be able to smell it, he thought vaguely. His Alpha's face was so close to the core of his heat.
“Perhaps if you’re able to find some relief, if I can ease the weight you’ve been carrying… if your body can find… release…” He spoke that last word with a low growl and Aerion found himself nodding dumbly along. “…maybe then your milk would flow freely, and we would not need to rely on another to feed our babe.”

“I sent you to Lys to grow out of the arrogant boy you were,” Maekar said, his voice cold enough to still the room, “and instead you return having let some lowborn mount you like a mare, with a bastard in your arms, as though whoring yourself had not been humiliation enough.”
His gaze lowered briefly to the child, the contempt in it barely concealed.
Duncan froze where he stood, something in his chest tightening at the way the prince spoke, the disdain directed not only at Aerion but at the small boy who stood beside him. Before he had fully thought it through, the hedge knight stepped forward and placed himself between them.
“He is not a bastard, Your Grace,” Duncan said, his voice steadier than he felt. “He has Prince Aerion's dragon blood, and that is enough.”
When Duncan is sent to Lys to bring Aerion back to Summerhall four years after his exile, he does not expect to find the once-arrogant prince working in a brothel to fend for a bastard child who looks oddly familiar. Prince Maekar does not take the news kindly.

Aerion thinks they’re sturdy creatures, ones that are able to handle a good bit of torture, in whatever form, before they shatter, well, if they shatter at all. He likes watching them squirm, likes watching them try and hold themselves together, knowing fully well what would become of them if they were to even think of putting a finger on him.

“I see you there, you know,” the alpha calls out to Aerion. “Are you the stable boy?”
Aerion’s eye twitches at the mere thought of him being a stable boy. This man, honestly, what a brute to assume such a thing.
He wants nothing more than to bite the alpha’s head off, but instead, he just settles for biting his lip to keep his anger at bay. He cannot draw attention to himself.
“No,” Aerion snaps at the brute, readjusting the hood of his cloak to make sure it stays on and conceals his hair. “Leave.”
He cannot let anyone see it, lest he wants to be returned to his father.
“Nothing to be ashamed of if you are,” the alpha tries to placate him. “It’s a decent job to have.”
Then, to Aerion’s horror and annoyance, the alpha tosses him a coin, one that proceeds to land by Aerion’s feet.
aerion runs away to escape an arranged marriage and ends up meeting a brute of an alpha at a stable, out of all places.
