He ran his fingers through long hair, breath puffing against damp bangs before the gold strands fell perfectly to frame his face again, a cautious reset against the heat clinging to his skin. "But I like men like you, so I don't mind when you guys come say hi."
Scaramouche’s smile widened, but it was the kind that felt like walking into a trap. "Men like me, hm? That’s generous. You don’t know a thing about me." He leaned in, his voice dropping to a slow, deliberate taunt. "But you will. Next time, try harder to impress me. I hate wasting my attention."

Those blue eyes slid back up to her, and she felt warmth coil in her gut that almost made her sick.

Their height difference wasn’t even that big, but somehow, he loomed over her. A tower caging her in.
Maybe it was the shoulders a millimeter too broad, the arms an inch too long. Maybe it was because he was puffing smoke into her face, blowing calm breaths on her lips — but even for his stature, he was still slightly bigger, slightly taller. Slightly more intimidating, more charming. It scared her as much as it spurred her on, and his leer dug so much into her he had her rooted there.
