Summary
Lena lays there for a moment, brain frantically trying to recalibrate, heart beating a panicked staccato hard against her ribs. She stares up at the thick tree cover, fighting to catch her breath and her lungs burn behind her sternum. A new sound cuts through the noise of nature around her.
A hum, light and almost cheery. Melodic. Beautiful. Followed by heavy footfalls and Lena’s heart seizes up in her quivering chest.
“Wow, you made it so much further than I thought you would,” Kara calls into the night, her tone as light and airy as her humming was. “Even with that fifteen-minute head start. But seriously, Lena. Did you really think I wouldn’t be able to find you?”

Kara and Lena play a game in the woods but things quickly escalate.

Summary
There’s no glasses on her face. Her family’s coat of arms donned proudly on her chest. She seems so much lighter in the days following the reveal of her identity to the world. Since emptying the contents of the boxes labelled Supergirl and Kara Danvers into one that’s more whole, more like herself: Kara Zor-El.
Lena doesn’t think that she’s ever seen Kara more beautiful, more at peace and she finds her eyes drifting downward of their own accord to the blonde’s velvet soft lips.
Kara tracks her gaze, a cocky grin etching across her handsome face. “Lena?”
“Hmm,” Lena forcibly drags her eyes back to Kara’s and blood rushes to her cheeks at the heat and hunger she finds there.

Kara gives him a quizzical look. What an...odd question. She honestly isn’t sure if William is actually expecting an answer right this minute and she supposes that it really doesn’t matter—she has none to offer him.

“I do know you.” Supergirl’s voice is soft and tender, a contrast to the wildfire that blazed in her blue eyes. “And you know me. Look at me, Lena.” Lena complies, locking gazes with Supergirl. “Really look at me.”
Lena notes the pleading tone in the hero’s voice and takes a moment to look deeply into those bold, azure eyes. Even though they’re intense, even though they’re filled with an anger Lena has never seen before, they’re also familiar. Why is that? This kind of familiarity comes with knowing someone intimately. She doesn’t have that kind of relationship with Supergirl, it’s strictly business.
No, there is only one pair of blue eyes Lena has spent what feels like a lifetime staring into. And with a breathless gasp she realizes, she’s staring into them now as well. They’re darker than normal with a hint of mischief, anger and wickedness but they’re still her eyes.
Kara’s eyes.
Kara is Supergirl.
AKA Kara comes into contact with red kryptonite instead of harun-el during season 4
