Summary
The whiteboard is the catalyst, but it really isn’t. It tips over a series of dominoes that lead to Jay’s bedroom, get under his feet, and walk him out the door. But, in the morning after, when the whiteboard has that big, capital D ‘Don’t’ on it, and Matt won’t be honest about having written it, despite it clearly being his handwriting, the whiteboard isn’t the catalyst, because Matt gets up on the couch and erases it, and it’s almost like it wasn’t there to begin with.

It was true that Matt was obsessed with the idea of *having had* sex, but he didn’t show any interest in trying to pursue anybody. What Matt was mostly interested in was Jay being involved, somehow. How could he not understand that this was too much to ask, even for them? Matt didn’t ever seem to feel bad about needing things from people.

The only reason Charlie is suffering like this, choking on his own blood like roadkill, is because (as Allan has explained [repeatedly]): he insists on struggling. If he just let Allan perform the procedure as originally planned — a neat, surgical severing of the aorta or (provisionally) really any major artery of Allan's choice — there wouldn't be any opportunity for the theatrics Charlie loves to put both of them through, like for example what he's doing now, gesturing for some kind of vaporizer or e-cigarette cartridge to be delivered to his deathbed.
