There is a flower shop in the town center, across the street from City Hall. Taako only knows about it because Merle has dragged him there before, against his will and superior judgement.
Normally he hates the place. It’s humid and his hair frizzes up, and the people who work there judge him when he says “pneumonia” instead of “petunia” to piss Merle off. This time, however, Taako walks in to find the most beautiful man he’s ever seen - outside a mirror, anyway - behind the counter.
“Welcome to Rose Buddies,” the man says, not looking up. “Can I help you find anything?”

Summary
Kravitz plays for a formal party, but runs into a problem he can't ignore.
Set in modern times. Kravitz is a workaholic single dad who marks sleep on a calendar. Taako is a famous TV chef stumbling into parenting an orphan. They make each other pause.
Then, they make each other laugh.
The rest of it is secondary. They can work out sisters, double dates, and making out later.
No series context needed. This AU is self-contained with only blink-and-you'll-miss-it references to previous content.
Updates sporadically. If marked as complete, the primary (story) conflict of every "episode" has been resolved.

Taako knew he had a soulmate, at least according to the simple but elegant tattoo that wrapped down his arm. He didn't ping Sazed as someone who matched it, didn't imagine he was the kind of person he was destined to be with. After some time though, he'd begun to notice some things, and that's what people always said, right? A lot of time it wasn't obvious right away, you needed to wait and get to learn your soulmate before you realized it was them.
Taako had a soulmate, back before Glamour Springs when his life fell apart. He had a soulmate, and it wasn't Kravitz.

The point is that Taako used to stride into lessons late with Fantasy Starbucks in hand. The point is that he forgot about lessons once or twice -- and that’s charitable, because the other option is he just didn’t feel like showing up, and Angus wouldn’t really put that past him, though he hopes it’s not true. The point is that Taako knocked on his door at six o’clock last night with his ears perked high and his cheeks red and that giggle threatening to break through his voice and told him magic lessons were canceled the next day. That kind of courtesy from Taako means something’s up. Angus McDonald intends to find out what.
