Daichi knows that Hinata accidentally called him ‘Dad’ once, and Suga often teases him about parenting the first-years, but this is just ridiculous.
“I’m not your dad, I’m your captain!” Daichi protests.
The cheering only increases in volume. They’re probably disturbing anyone who’s still at the school – but then, it’s New Year’s Eve. Nobody is still at the school besides Daichi’s insane, ridiculous, wonderful team.
“Okay, fine,” he says at last, raising his hands in surrender. “I’m proud to be your dad.”

When Daichi’d received his suitemate assignment three months ago and been informed via an innocent-looking email and twelve point font of the imminent end of his life (or at least his peace, if he’d ever had any in the first place), he’d nearly had a stress-induced cardiac event on the spot. Then he’d put his shoes on to go outside and stare hopelessly at the sky and wonder where it had all gone wrong.
And then he’d finally called Suga, who had done nothing but laugh, the bastard, and tell him that maybe this was what he deserved for trying to play babysitter all these years. Daichi’d hung up on him, though not before saying that he’d only needed to play babysitter in the first place because some people simply were not mature enough to handle themselves.
Or: Daichi gets exactly what he (doesn't) deserve, and five familiar roommates. It's fine. He's fine.

The day Kageyama Tobio turned sixteen began like any other.
He woke, as he always did, three minutes before his alarm in the predawn darkness of rural Miyagi. Even in the depths of winter, with snow piling softly against rounded street curbs and his breath puffing out before him in gray clouds outside, he dreamed with his curtains thrown wide to the rising sun and his window cracked for fresh air. He’d always slept better with a bit of the outside pressing in.
Or: a very self-indulgent Kageyama birthday fic, in which his team helps him celebrate and he maybe, sort of, starts to work through some of his grief.

This was a stupid idea. It had always been a stupid idea, from the moment that Hinata had proposed it at one of the interminable team sleepovers back in Miyagi, to the moment that Kei had signed the lease. It was a stupid idea now, as Kei moved himself into the apartment he was soon to be sharing with two of the most irritating people on the planet, his boyfriend, and Yachi, who was actually an angel and didn’t deserve any of this.
But—and this was the sticking point—Kei was brutally aware of the fact that he had no-one but himself to blame for his current situation. He’d gone along with the whole thing with only mild complaining.
(Or: Tsukishima Kei shares an apartment with his teammates from Karasuno as a freshman in college. He doesn’t hate it.)
