Middle-Aged Meet Cute AU – Frank plays a local festival gig and accidentally catches feelings.
The drive is quiet, but Frank’s mind is louder than a megaphone in a wind tunnel. Every thought arrives with sirens and flashing lights, each one chirping like malware pop-ups on a caffeine bender. He tries to focus on the road – cracked pavement, people picking their noses at traffic lights, Subaru Guy auditioning for Mad Max. But his mind keeps rerouting back to Gerard. Not in a hearts-and-flowers way, more like a ‘who even is this guy and why is he lodged in my frontal lobe’ kind of way. He flips through radio stations, but either he’s no longer their target demo or he’s officially old enough to bitch about autotune.

Frank Iero is not special. At all. He's different, yes, he knows that. Everyone at his old school knows that. Everyone in his old town knows that. Every fucking jock and wise guy who was after a bit of a distraction or punching bag knows he is different and tried to punish him for it. But at least it was enough to get him out of that dump and into a new town, a new school, and maybe a new start.
But when he meets Gerard Way, he starts to learn that different isn't always a bad thing - and special is a term that covers an awful lot.

When Louis moves into the flat next to Harry's, neither of them thinks it will change their lives. Louis is stuck in a relationship with his controlling and overly possessive boyfriend who he loves too much to break up with. Harry is content, seeking refuge from the snobby world he grew up in and forging a new path for himself. He does happen to have a habit of wanting to fix people though and when he meets Louis, the gorgeous man with a prat of a boyfriend, he finds himself trying to do just that. While Harry tries to avoid getting tangled in a messy situation, Louis tries to deny that there's a niggling voice in the back of his head that prefers Harry to his own boyfriend. While both determinedly refuse to let change come, they fail to notice that exact force wrapping around them and pulling them tighter together until there just might be no escape from the feelings brewing within.
