Mike drags his hands down his face in frustration, but he immediately notices something slimy and wet on his face as he does it. He pulls his hands back in disgust immediately, identifying the source as…red. A lot of red.
Mike feels his heart stop for a moment, and he breathes heavily. Blood. What’s blood doing on Mike’s face? He looks down at himself for the first time that night to notice it’s everywhere. It drags down his shirt in a giant sea of red, and it splats on his night pants accusingly.
It’s only now that he notices the coppery tang in his mouth, and his worst fears are confirmed when he spits onto his hand. More red. Red, red, everywhere.
Mike breathes shakily, blinking deliriously. What happened?

Summary
"I'll help you get better," Will says, palms outstretched like he's asking for mercy or offering it. His face is slick with tears, catching at the corners of his mouth, his breath breaking around them. "I'm right here," he pleads. "Don't you want to get better?"
Mike's chest locks up. He can barely breathe. He's so afraid of the answer. More afraid of what it means.
"I can't do this, Will."
"Please." Will's voice comes out fractured. He's desperate now, begging, looking like he could drop to his knees.
Mike's hands twitch at his sides. He almost reaches, almost cries, almost stops being the coward he's always been. The truth hides behind his teeth and he just swallows it all down.
"I'm sorry," He whispers.
They both know the answer. They both want to run from it.OR

Six months after the final battle, Hawkins is back to normal in all the wrong ways.
Mike Wheeler is grieving El, the battle against Vecna, the version of himself who used to know what to do. He’s not eating, not sleeping, not talking, and definitely not saying the one thing that might save him. Being in the closet feels safer than truth.
Will Byers is still there anyway.Waiting for him to come to his senses.
I wanted a character study of Mike that didn’t bash him over the head for being closeted.
Inspired by The Cure, and Twilight: New Moon (unfortunately).My friend called it John Hughes but way darker, I will go with that.
