Summary
The evening Lan Wangji – Lan Zhan to friends, or rather friend, being all of one, being all of Wei Ying – accidentally overhears the heart’s desire of his heart’s desire is a cold winter’s day, the first snow falling outside.
“Brother Wei,” Nie Huaisang says cheerfully, another voice Lan Zhan knows far too well. “Still no luck getting Lan Wangji to Netflix and chill with you?”
Jiang Cheng makes a retching noise. Wei Ying makes a stuttering noise.
“I don’t….!” Wei Ying protests, but Nie Huaisang only laughs and Wei Ying stutters again and groans and sighs. “How do you know… I want to….”
Lan Zhan looks down at his hands, brow furrowed. Netflix and chill? Wei Ying wants to watch Netflix with him and relax? That is his heart’s desire? It sounds slightly odd, but Lan Zhan wants Wei Ying to have anything, everything, has since Wei Ying persistently annoyed his way into Lan Zhan’s heart when they were 15 and at school together and apparently, everything includes Netflix and chill with him.
Lan Zhan will make that happen.

Lan Zhan nods as the boat nears the dock and the figure becomes clearer. It's a young man with dark hair down to his shoulders and a wide smile. He is also Asian, and as he turns his gaze to Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan finds himself robbed of breath for the second time that day. The young man is beautiful. He could, Lan Zhan thinks, be Lan Zhan's age, possibly a bit younger. He's tan, wearing a bright pink shirt with the restaurant logo on it, and cargo shorts. He has a small mole under his lower lip. "Hey, guys!" he greets with a wave. "Need a hand?"
"Yes, please, if you don't mind," Lan Huan shouts back. He gets up and begins the preparations for docking, handing the young man several ropes. "Thank you, Wei Ying."
Wei Ying. That's the boy's name.

This time, Wei Wuxian made sure the pinch landed. “Be quiet,” he said, glancing up to confirm that Lan Zhan was out of earshot.
“I’m serious, Wei Wuxian,” she said, and even though her revenge shoulder punch was unnecessarily hard, the look she gave him was lined with concern. “Watching you two pine after each other is getting unbearable. When are you going to stop flirting with strangers you don’t actually like and do something about it? You know he won’t.”
Wei Wuxian pouted at her, but she was, as ever, impervious. “Violence is really unattractive, you know,” he said, rubbing his shoulder. He turned away before adding, more quietly, “And we’ve already talked about this. I can’t.”
