Summary
Under the dictatorship of the Schlatt Administration, heroes and vigilantes alike struggle to find their place in the hybrid system. Phil and Wil settle into their routine of working as heroes doing their best to change that system from the inside, that all changes one fateful day. The vigilante blood god attacks a military base slaughtering hundreds. The hero commission flies into panic mode. But the two of them know something that no else does. They know who blood god is and that he did not do it.
The race is on to find who it was and what they are after. The longer they look the deeper the corruption goes. They have to fight, even if it means forgetting the morals they held so dear as heroes to protect those they love. But, once morals are gone, what stops the hate from taking over?

Summary
Tommy let out a deep breath when he lowered the can to his lap. He could just barely see the neighborhood from here. He thought about Wilbur and Techno finishing up supper and helping Phil with the dishes after he cleared the table. He thought about Wilbur scrubbing hydrogen peroxide onto his white shirt to get the blood out. He thought of Techno’s red coat, stained a bit too dark in some places. He thought of the way Phil’s eyes had a shade of darkness over them until he relaxed enough at home to smile.
And Tommy realized he didn’t exactly belong.

Never once had Tommy thought any less of his familiar, never had he thought the piglet was anything other than extraordinary. Holding his small familiar in his arms and exclaiming to the crowd with stars in his eyes that one day the two of them would be heroes. Proudly showing both of his parents the newest addition to their family, unaware of the anguish in their eyes.
