“...what if you stayed with us?” Rolan heard Kian’s heart stop for a quick second, before it picked up speed at a rapid pace. His head snapped upwards, and he stared at Rolan in what he felt was misplaced disbelief. “Stayed with you?” He looked between Rand and Rolan, clearly confused. Like he didn’t think they’d suggest that. He didn’t understand why, of course they would. Or… at least, of course Rand would. Rolan had already broken his trust so many times. He was probably right to assume he’d just abandon him now, too.

Condi botches the roll to sever the tie that Rachel puts to Rand’s brain. He falls overboard, gasping for air, but only sucks in blood. Kian rushes over to the edge to try and pull Rolan up, but only manages to fall overboard himself. Rolan vaguely makes out the sound of Rachel’s voice saying something above the water. And then everything goes white.
“Fuck, dude! We were so close to the good ending,” Grizzly starts, leaning back and groaning. Condi almost opens his mouth to agree with him before Charlie speaks.
“Hold on,” he says, and they can hear the barely maintained composure in his voice, “I never said we were done.”
