Erwin allowed him his hatred, but he refused to let the integrity of his leadership be compromised for Levi’s moods. And so, after yet another argument; one that finally devolved into yelling and accusations hurdling like knives through the air of his office; they found themselves folded into each other over Erwin’s desk.

The young Patroclus pulls a face. “The word is mature, I think.” Young Patroclus meets Achilles’ eyes and brushes some of his hair away from his face. “Why, Achilles,” he says, of course to the young one, “are you jealous? He is quite beautiful still.”

He laid his first flowers that night: rue pressed atop Levi's right eye, delicate marigolds atop his thin knuckles, and a nest of chamomile all woven through his ribs.

“I had wondered—” Erwin coughs again, and is cowed into lowering his gaze when the Captain looks at him. He has the most scrutinising of stares. Erwin isn’t sure if he can see out of his left eye, but in that moment, it could well be penetrating his heart. “Ah, that is. In your letter, you didn’t mention much. Of what you expected from me during this session.”
The Captain takes so long to answer, that Erwin begins to think he does not feel inclined to say anything at all. He finishes his tea, and returns his cup to the tray. “What does your job usually entail?”
“Usually? Well, I might accompany a client to an event, or have dinner with them, or simply keep them company.”
“Do you have sex with them?”
“Yes.” Erwin swallows.
