Summary
Spotting a small neon “Open” sign flickering quietly in the window of a store just a little further down the sidewalk, Goro breathed a quick sigh of relief and jogged the rest of the way to the door. Swinging it open frantically, he propelled his body through the door as fast as he could before shutting it against the howling wind and rain once more.
Taking a second to catch his breath, he slowly turned around to take in his surroundings before his eyes locked onto another pair. A guy around his age was manning the register at the front of the store and watching him with raised eyebrows and a tiny smile. A beat passed as Goro stared back, still catching his breath.
“…Welcome,” the guy said.
“Uh,” Goro started intelligently, dripping wet in the doorway. “Hi. Thanks.”

“Stop.” In a sure sign that Linhardt had given up on his work, his pitchfork clattered to the stable floor next to him. “Sylvain Gautier—the notorious Sylvain Gautier—is asking me for relationship advice?”

Summary
For some reason, Felix’s gaze is catching on the white breaths puffing out of Sylvain’s mouth. An old governess used to tell him tales of the North, how anyone who went into the mountains was destined to freeze to death on the icy slopes, and how the Sreng were only able to survive thanks to a pact they’d made with some foreign God. Glenn had helpfully pointed out that that story was probably made up. “And not freezing to death,” he appends to Sylvain’s list, reaching out and giving the leather straps on the bundled coat one last tug, because he can.
“And not freezing,” Sylvain agrees with a slow smile, after he finally swings up onto his horse. “But don’t worry about me, I’m a Gautier.”
Sylvain comes back from Sreng with treaty in hand and a fever that won't go away.
