Unlike him, he never left KorTac, not for a week, not for a month, and not for several years like Horangi himself. Now he’s supposed to be a colonel. His eyes land on a screen displaying long rows of names. He quickly takes a few steps closer. Horangi is glad that he is standing alone in front of it, because he would not have known how to explain that the name he was looking for caught his eye so quickly in this sea of letters. Right next to it is the word “Absent.”
Well, then I can keep looking for a long time.
