Summary
Stede was dead, Izzy had told him with such joy in voice, it took everything in him to not crumble in front of his first mate. Those words still haunted him, especially when night fell and he found himself alone with his thoughts. Ed finds out that Stede 'died' but was not told the details of his death and falls into a deep depression, so when Stede returns to The Revenge very much alive, he demands answers. Stede will do anything to earn Ed's love again, but also has his own questions that he wants answered.

Summary
The moon was high the first time Stede experienced what he could only describe at the time as madness or a strange occurrence spurred on by a restless sleep the night before. He was standing on deck, looking out at the wide ocean while the crew slept when he heard it. (It had been a single day since they took over their new ship.) At first it was almost too quiet to be heard, and he was ready to ignore the sound, and blame it on the wind. Then it came again and he could hear it as though it were across the room. The voice was mournful and familiar, and Stede could feel his heart break to hear that voice filled with such sadness.
“Stede,” Ed’s voice called out from across the sea. “Stede…”

Summary
Izzy had long thought that Stede Bonnet would be the death of him, but he hadn't expected that he'd go about it quite so deliberately.
Stede takes Izzy on a nature walk, so that he can propose away from the pressure of having the crew potentially eavesdrop. Izzy draws the entirely wrong conclusion that Stede's decided he's outlived his usefulness.
