Lan Wangji glanced up from where he'd been wiping down the small table in the inn room with a cloth. His eyes were steady, so placid. "I don't know," he said after a second, "but I have thought about it."
"So you think you may know, you're just not certain that you do?" Wei Wuxian shifted his elbows to his knees, wrists curled under his chin. He was the best at this—picking all the littlest parts of Lan Wangji apart and putting them back together in shining silver clarity. It was also one of his favorite things to do.
Lan Wangji nodded. "And you?"
"Hmm? What do I think?" Wei Wuxian leaned further forward, elbows digging into his knees. "I'm not quite as certain as you sound, but I think I may have an idea, at least… I wonder if we're thinking the same thing."

Summary
Wei Wuxian releases his lip and allows himself a truly indulgent smile. Under Lan Zhan’s eye, it is all the warmth of a face turned up to the sun, and none of the pain of shielding your vision against it. He sees Lan Zhan clearly: this curve of the mouth here, that ghost of a tear there. Movements made all the more dramatic for the calm of the face on which they’re made. Still water needs no skipping pebbles to move it, the gentle fall of a leaf causes just as much disturbance. The ripples are all the more beautiful for it.
