Warning! This is my first fic! I’m very excited to start writing more and practicing! My friend and I are working on a HUGE fanfic where we rewrite Season 5 Volumes 2 and 3 because the Duffer Brothers suck. After the final battle, it's just Will, Mike, Max, Lucas and Dustin, it's November 6th, 1988, everyone is bored, until Lucas proposes to play "seven minutes in heaven", those seven minutes turn into hours for Will and Mike.
OR
mike and will get paired up (not fairly) for the game, having to spend 7 minutes together in a very tiny closet.

“I’m just not sure if that's something... Friends... Should do...” Will whispered, so soft Mike had to think about what he had just said. The word made something in Will’s chest collapse, quiet and sudden, like he’d expected it and still wasn’t ready for it.
“Right... Friends...” Mike mumbled, letting out a sigh as he ran a hand through Will’s hair, propping himself up on his elbow. Will froze.
“No- shit, Will.. I didn’t mean it like that…” Mike stuttered, closing his eyes and letting out a sigh. Will turned to look at him, his expression unreadable as he spoke.
“Then how did you mean it, Mike?” Will spoke sternly, but his voice still shook, and it made him cringe.

Mike freezes in the doorway and feels the air catch in his lungs. Whether that’s on purpose or not, he’s unaware. Maybe blocking his airway is his body's way of doing him a favor, making him invisible to this conversation that he was very much not invited to. He takes a stumbling step back as quietly as he possibly can, which is difficult in his growing state of panic. He needs to make his escape immediately before being spotted, but all too soon, it’s too late. Joyce redirects her gaze to the doorway at the sound of his shuffling footsteps, and the shock in her expression inevitably prompts his best friend to turn around.

Alternatively, a rewrite starting at the coming out scene and attempting to implement my favorite fan theories and fix the hot mess the Duffer Brothers created.
